The 5-minute lesson idea

  1. Minute 1: Play one of the example videos below straight from the projector - nothing to search for, nothing to download.
  2. Minute 2: The class votes: AI or authentic? A show of hands is enough - put the tally on the board.
  3. Minutes 3-4: Open the answer and show the result. The class collects: how could you have spotted it?
  4. Minute 5: Project the spotting checklist. Transfer question: "What does this mean for videos that get sent to you privately?"

Works as a lesson opener, as a cover lesson (three rounds = 20 minutes) and as a demo at a parents evening. For daily practice: the Daily Challenge - a new case every day.

Three checked example videos for the projector

Example 1: the animal video

Let the class vote: to the result with guess buttons →

Show the answer

Our analysis: AI-generated. With your class, look at the fur texture, the movement transitions and the physics in the background.

Example 2: another animal video

Let the class vote: to the result with guess buttons →

Show the answer

Our analysis: likely real. Shaky phone camera, imperfect light - that is exactly what points to a real recording here.

Example 3: the robot dog

Let the class vote: to the result with guess buttons →

Show the answer

Our analysis: likely real - even though almost everyone guesses AI. Perfect for showing that the mistake happens in the other direction too.

Tip: play it first and let them vote - the answer stays collapsed until you open it.
