AI or Authentic? on iPhone: the shortcut

With the shortcut you check a video or image straight from the share menu of TikTok, Safari or Photos - without leaving the app, no copy and paste. Install once, then it's two taps per check.

On Android? You don't need a shortcut there: install the app and check straight from the share menu. A dedicated Android video may follow later. Android guide

Step 1: set up the shortcut

  1. Tap "Install iOS shortcut" - the shortcut preview "AI or Authentic?" opens.
  2. Tap "Add Shortcut" at the bottom. That's the whole setup - the shortcut now appears in your share menu.
  3. Only on your first check: iOS asks once for permission to contact aiorauthentic.com - confirm with "Allow".

Note: the shortcut opens the result in Safari (as iOS requires).

Step 2: check a video or image

  1. Open the video you want to check - for example in TikTok - and tap the share or forward arrow.
  2. Scroll to the list of actions in the share sheet and choose "AI or Authentic?".
  3. Safari opens and the analysis starts automatically. After about 30-60 seconds you get the result with a shareable certificate.
  4. This works anywhere with a share menu - including Safari, Photos and many other apps.

Frequently asked questions

Does the shortcut cost anything?▾

No. The shortcut is free and uses the Shortcuts app that comes preinstalled on every current iPhone. You don't have to download a separate app from the App Store.

What happens to the shared video?▾

The shortcut only passes the shared link or file to aiorauthentic.com for analysis; the result opens in Safari. Details on processing are in the privacy policy.

I can't see "AI or Authentic?" in the share menu - what now?▾

Scroll all the way down in the share sheet to the list of actions - the shortcut usually sits below the app row. Via "Edit Actions" you can move it further up. If it doesn't appear at all, install it again above.

Does this work with Instagram too?▾

Instagram links are often behind a login wall and then can't be loaded. The reliable way: save the video or capture it with a quick screen recording and share the file from Photos to the shortcut.

What happens in the video (transcript)▾

The video shows, in order: open the site in Safari and tap the gold button "Faster checks: iPhone shortcut". In the iCloud preview choose "Add Shortcut" - setup done. Then tap the forward arrow in TikTok and pick "AI or Authentic?" from the action list - the analysis starts and the result opens in Safari. The captions burned into the video name exactly these steps.
